restaurant mykene
muntstraat 44 3000 leuven, belgië

Foto van de Leeuwenpoort (ca. 1350 AC)
Since 1985 this restaurant is located in the Muntstraat, in a house that once belonged to the patrician of Van Herckenrode. The interior refers to Greek mythology, but it is a mixture of ancient and modern elements.
The eye catcher is the Lion Gate of Mykene which a copy of the original is in the restaurant. By a happy coincidence we were able to nab that in the basement of the Museum of Art and History in Brussels. This plaster impression of the Lion Gate was used at the World Exhibition in Brussels.
